The Center for Helping and Healing, Inc. was spearheaded in 2007 by Rev.
Sinclair Grey III. Through his extensive experience in social services, he
felt the need to establish an organization that caters to the needs of the
entire family.
Everyday, our youth are faced with growing challenges ranging from poor
academic performance to dysfunctional families. One of the reasons for the
creation of this organization is to reclaim as well as train the leaders of
tomorrow. It is through our efforts that the whole family will be empowered,
thereby, transforming a community.
Our Assessment:
There are many challenges facing economically disadvantaged youth and
adults today. Statistics are shared in the media and in the classroom of the
growing number of youth having pre-marital sex, getting pregnant, suffering
from low self-esteem, dropping out of school, using drugs, being abused,
running away from home or simply not reaching their full potential. There
are some who come from well-adjusted homes while others come from
broken homes. Homes where there is little guidance and direction. Homes
where there is mental and physical abuse. Homes where they are
constantly told they will not amount to anything. This is undoubtedly a rough
start.
